KABULinfo-icon(PANinfo-icon): The Al Qaeda chief's killing would boost hopes for consolidating peace in Afghanistaninfo-icon and pave the ground for the security transition to Afghan forces, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in Kabul said on Monday.

"Osama bin Laden's killing is a huge victory for all those involved in the international campaign against terrorism and a setback to terrorists and their supporters," the ministry said in a statement.
It added: "Although many challenges in the fight against terrorism remain, the death Osama bin Laden -- a symbol of terrorism for the people of Afghanistan -- shows their determination to preserve their freedom."
