QALATCITY(PAN): A private radio station official said on Tuesday he escaped unhurt in a gun attack in the capital of southern Zabul province.
Marjan Afghan, the Voice of Qalat chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News he came under attack from gunmen riding a motorcycle, as he came out of his house in the Risala village on the outskirts of Qalat.
He said he could not identify the attackers because their faces were covered with masks. He escaped unhurt in the attack, and only his car was damaged.
Afghan had been receiving threats from unidentified people over the past few months through telephone and text messages. The official said he had no idea what was the reason behind the attempt on his life.
Police chief, Col. Abdul Malik Wahidi, said police had launched an investigation to arrest the attackers. Supported by International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the FM radio has been operational in Qalat over the past two years.
