District council official killed in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (PAN): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a district development council official in the eastern province of Nangarhar, officials said on Wednesday.

Malak Baba, an influential figure from the Koz Beyar village, was gunned down in the Sra Qala area of Khogyani district at 10 am.

The victim was on his way to the district headquarters, the district chief, Mohammad Hassan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The elder had no enmity with anyone. The incident, the third of its kind since March 2011, happened 300 metres from a military base of foreign forces, said the council head, Din Mohammad.
