District police chief wounded in Taliban assault
KHOST CITY (PAN): A district police chief was wounded along with several others in a Taliban attack on Wednesday afternoon in southeastern Khost province, bordering Pakistan's tribal region of Kurram, an official said.
The militants fired at the car of the Sabari district police, injuring him and some of his security guards, the governor's spokesman, Mubarez Zadran, told Pajhwok Afghan News. One guard was killed in the attack.
As usual, the Taliban asserted responsibility for the assault. Their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the rebels targeted an intelligence department's vehicle in the Khalbasat area. Two intelligence operatives were killed and another two, including the Sabari district police commander, wounded, he claimed.
