KABUL-led forces caught red-handed while accepting a bribe at Camp Eggers in Kabul, a prosecutor said on Wednesday.
The Attorney General’s Office had prior information that the interpreter would receive a bribe of $170,000 (7.77 million afghanis) from an individual in return for a US military contract.
Amanullah Aiman, a spokesman for the AG Office, told Pajhwok Afghan News the interpreter was held yesterday soon after he received $20,000 in advance payment. The notes had already been signed by prosecutors.
He added members of the Transparency Commission, working within the framework of the AG Office to combat corruption, arrested the individual. The detainee is currently under investigation.
