PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Seven tonnes of ammonium nitrate fertiliser, used by militants in making explosives, were seized and three people detained in central Logar province, officials said on Thursday.
The banned fertiliser was recovered during the search of a house by the Quick Reaction Force and foreign troops in Mamai village of Baraki Barak district, the provincial police chief said.
Col. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai told Pajhwok Afghan News the fertiliser, imported from Pakistan, was kept in the house.
A truck driver, the house owner and a third individual were detained during the raid. Foreign troops were interrogating the detainees, the police chief added.
Baraki Barak district chief, Mohammad Rahim Amin, confirmed the recovery, saying the operation was conducted by US Special Forces, and that he had no more information.
