Ex-jihadi leader's family members detained in Ghazni
GHAZNICITY (PAN): Foreign forces detained three family members of a former jihadi commander during an overnight raid in Ghazni City, the capital of southern Ghazni province, a security official said on Saturday.
The detainees included the brother of Abdul Baqi, the former jihadi, and his two nephews who were detained during a raid in Bakawal area in the limits of fifth police district on Friday night, police chief, Col. Zarawar Zahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
"Afghan security personnel did not participate in the operation, therefore I have no further details," he said.
The former jihadi commander, Abdul Baqi, served as a police checkpoint commander in Pira area of Khogyani district until last year, but currently he had no government job, the police chief said.
A few months ago, foreign forces detained another brother of Baqi and he was still in prison, a resident of the area, Abdul Wahid, said.
Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said foreign troops had detained civilians in Ghazni City.
