KANDAHARCITY (PAN): At least two explosions rocked on Saturday the southern city of Kandahar, while gunmen holed up in a nearby building traded fire with security forces guarding the governor’s office, an official said.
The Taliban fighters entered a four-storey building at around 1pm near the governor’s office and opened fire on the compound, the governor’s spokesman, Zalmay Ayubi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Three civilians have so far been injured in the attack and the gun battle was still ongoing, he said.
One explosion was heard near Tooryalai Wesa’s heavily guarded compound in the center of the city and another blast was heard several minutes later in the west of the city.
