The call was made by Pakistan’s sports and refugee affairs minister, Shaukatullah Khan, who is on an official visit in Kabul with a delegation.
Khan who met with Afghan cricket board officials and special adviser for tribal affairs to President Hamid Karzai, Shahzada Massoud, told reporters in Kabul that his country would continue to assist Afghanistan in diverse fields of life, including cricket.
He said Pakistan had been helping Afghans to improve their cricket skills and allowing Afghans to take advantages of facilities in the neighbouring country. He said his country would facilitate Afghanistan in promoting the game at home.
Regading 2015 WCC, Pakistani sports minister said ” Our counry would vote in favour of Afghnistan playing for the next cricket would cup.”
Khan also promised providing training to Afghan coaches and umpires in Pakistan and helping the country to construct sports grounds.
He said that the Afghan cricket team is due to visit Pakistan next month to play matches against Pakistan’s A team, which would include senior Pakistani cricketers.
Shahzada Massoud said Afghans had learnt cricket in Pakistan, where they had been living over the past many years. He thanked Pakistan for its assistance toward different Afghan sectors.
He urged Pakistani sports minister to organize limited overs circket matches between both national teams.
