HERAT CITY (PAN): Two contract guards with the Afghan National Army (ANA) were killed when a roadside blast ripped through their vehicle in the western province of Herat, officials said on Monday.
The blast on Sunday evening hit the ANA vehicle in Shindand district, the troops commander, Col. Mohammad Naeem, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
One guard was killed on the spot and the second died of his injuries in hospital, he said.
The guards were hired on contract basis for security, another security official said on condition of anonymity.
The blast came a day after a child was killed in a similar incident in Awba district.
