KABUL): Two new buildings for a court and a school were inaugurated in eastern Kunar and central Panjsher provinces, officials said on Monday.
The three-storey building for the Asadabad court of appeal in the capital of Kunar cost $4, 40,000 (2,013,880 afghanis), Mohammad Ashraf Amin, the court chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The structure had 30 administrative rooms, a conference hall, and three kitchens, he said, adding chairs, tables and electricity system had been provided for the facility that took 16 months to complete.
Kunar governor Syed Fazlullah Waheedi thanked the United States for funding the project. He urged people to help the government implement development projects.
An US embassy official, Hans Klemm, called the project an example of good relations between the two countries in the field of judicial system.
In Panjsher, hundreds of students would benefit from a newly constructed building for their school, an official said on Monday.
The project for a high school, where 600 students have been studying, was implemented in the Faraj area of Anaba district.
Funded by the provincial reconstruction team, the building cost $250,000 (11,442,500 afghanis), said Abdul Rahman Kabiri, the deputy governor. The building had 16 classrooms with allied facilities, he said.
Students, including girls, had to study under tents before the construction of the new building, he said.
