Solar lights installed in Khost
KHOST CITY (PAN): As many as 118 solar lights were installed on the campus of Sheikh Zahid University and along roadsides in the capital city of southeastern Khost province on Monday, an official said.
About 78 of the lights were installed inside the university and the rest along roads in the city, the university dean, Gul Hassan Walizai, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The lights would help students study till late in the night, he said.
Khost governor, Abdul Jabbar Naeemi, who inaugurated the project, said the installation was carried out with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Sheikh Zahid University dean estimated at $187,000 (8.5 million afghanis) the cost of the lights. He said the USAID had also promised the installation of solar lights at the university.
In neighbouring Paktia, Governor Juma Khan Hamdard inaugurated newly constructed for buildings for two schools in Sayed Karam district, his spokesman said.
