Taliban shoot at labourers in Paktika, one dead

SHARAN (PAN killed a labourer and injured three others during a gun attack in southeastern Paktika province, an official said on Tuesday.

The victims were working on a reconstruction project in the Paraw area of Sararoza district when they were shot at by insurgents on Wednesday afternoon, the governor’s spokesman, Mukhlis Afghan told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A labourer, Shahid, said his brother was killed in the attack. Three others were injured, he said.

He said the attackers were Taliban who were against working on development projects. Shahid said they had no enmity with anyone.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the fighters attacked a vehicle carrying logistic supplies for foreign troops in the area.

A doctor at the Sharan civil hospital confirmed receiving three injured people at the hospital. He said their condition is stable.
