GHAZNICITY (PAN): Hundreds of kilograms of explosives were seized by a joint Afghan-international security force during an operation in the southern province of Ghazni, officials said on Wednesday.

The 300 kilograms of explosives were found buried in an orchard and a house in Asfandi village on the outskirts of Ghazni City, police chief, Col. Zarawar Zahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said they would show the explosives to journalists later on.  The operation was part of the Omaid (hope) operation which is underway in southern provinces, he said.

The police chief said the Omaid was aimed at resolving problems being faced people and fulfilling their needs. Currently the operation was ongoing in Qara Bagh, Zankhan, Deh Yak, Andar, Ab-i-Bank and Maqur districts of Ghazni.

Meanwhile, Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers captured a stolen police vehicle in Zankhan district.
