Eight insurgents killed in Faryab clash

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Eight suspected militants were killed during an operation led by Afghan forces in the northern province of Faryab, authorities said on Saturday.

The operation was carried out Friday night in Tukak area of Ghormach district, the governor’s spokesman, Javed Bedar, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Bodies of the dead militants were still lying on the site of the clash that continued until Saturday morning, the official said.

Resident Sayed Jafar said they saw helicopters of foreign troops hovered over the area during the clash.

Police spokesman Javed Ahmad said security personnel seized 13 motorcycles, explosives, and weapons from the scene.
