Four civilians injured in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (PAN): Four civilians were wounded after a group of insurgents launched a gun attack on a joint convoy of Afghan and foreign troops in eastern Nangarhar province on Monday, officials said.

The convoy was passing through a bazaar in Khugyani district when came under attack from insurgents, the district chief, Mohammad Hassan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Four civilians were wounded in the gunfire, he said, adding the joint forces also returned fire, but he had no information about casualties inflicted on the attackers.

The injured civilians were taken to a nearby hospital, Hassan said.

There was no word from the Taliban about the attack.

Elsewhere, two Arab militants were killed in a clash with Afghan army personnel in southern Ghazni province on Monday, an official said.

The clash broke out in Rashidkhel area of Andar district in the afternoon when a group of insurgent attacked Afghan National Army soldiers, the 203 Thunder Military Corps commander, Col. Daud Shah Wafadar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Two Arab fighters were killed in the clash and the personnel remained unhurt, he said.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the fighters blew up a military vehicle, killing four soldiers onboard.
