Blast leaves 2 civilians dead in Nangarhar

JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): Two civilian were killed when they stepped on a Talibaninfo-icon-planted mine in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.

The blast took place in the Khogiani district late on Monday, the district chief, Haji Mohammad Hassan, told Pajhwok Afghan Mews.

The victims were walking on the side of a road when they stepped on the mine that went off, he said. The dead were identified as residents of Chaparhar district.

Police had opened an investigation into the incident, according to Hassan.

Bashari, a witness, said that the bomb was planted on a car that killed two occupants of the car.

The fatalities came a day after four civilians were injured during a clash between the Taliban and foreign troops in the same district.
