KUNDUZCITY (PAN commander was killed in a remotely controlled bomb attack in the northern province of Kunduz, an official said on Wednesday.

The jihadi commander, Khalil, was killed in the blast in Khwaja Ghaltan area on the outskirts of Kunduz City on Tuesday at 7pm, deputy police chief, Col. Abdul Rahman Aqtash, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Khalil was walking home from his farms when the bomb went off near him, Aqtash said, linking the killing to his personal enmity. The police official blamed the Taliban for killing the elder. Police had launched an investigation, he said.

Khalil was one of Jamiat-i-Islami jihadi commanders, Nasratullah, a resident of the area, said.

The 50-year old, Khalil, had no government job and had a key role in solving problems of people for being influential.

No one has so far claimed responsibility for his murder.

Last year, another former jihadi commander was killed by unidentified gunmen in Zakhel area of Kunduz City.
