KABUL chairman, has been arrested in Kabul, an intelligence official said on Wednesday.
The detainees dressed in military uniforms wanted to attack the house of Fazal Hadi Muslimyar in the limits of fifth police district, when they were arrested, the spokesman for National Directorate of Security (NDS), Lotfullah Mashal, told a press conference in Kabul.
The group, he said, after being identified with the help of local people was arrested in Khwaja Jam. An intelligence operative was killed and another was wounded in a clash with the militants, he said.
Mashal identified the group members as Mohammad Osman, resident of Mir Bacha Kut area of Kabul, Mohammad Nasar, a resident of Parwan province, Mir Ahmad and Mohammad Amin, residents of central Maidan Wardak province.
The detainees had received training from Zakirullah, a resident of Shamshato refugee camp of Afghans in Peshawar city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, he said.
Two suicide vests, two kalashnikovs, some explosives, a motorbike and military uniforms were recovered from the group members.
Last week, a similar group plotting to attack Abdurab Rassoul Sayyaf, representative of Kabul resident at the Parliament, was arrested before reaching their target.
About the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden by an elite US team in Pakistan, the spy chief said the incident sapped Taliban morale and encouraged fighters to join peace talks. Pressure had increased on insurgent leaders living in Pakistan after the death of the Al Qaeda leader, he said.
However, he warned opposition to peace talks among powerful factions in Pakistan would slow progress in negotiations.
