Notorious rebel leader held in Baghlan

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN commander has been arrested by a joint Afghan and international security force in the northern province of Baghlan, an official said on Wednesday.

The militant was detained during an operation in Tala Wa Barfak district on Tuesday night, police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He did not identify the detainee, but said he was a notorious rebel commander.

A resident of the area, Sikandar, said the overnight operation lasted one hour. Foreign forces detained a Taliban leader during the operation, he said.
