LASHKARGAH (PAN insurgents were killed and five civilians were among nine others injured in separate incidents of violence in southern Helmand province, officials said on Thursday.
Two civilians were injured on Thursday morning when militants fired rockets from unknown location into Lashkargah City, the governor’s spokesman, Daud Ahmadi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
However, a witness, Abdul Aziz, said three people were injured in the strike.
Separately, four Taliban fighters were killed and five others injured in a clash with security forces in Haidarabad area and Grishk district on Wednesday night. The clash continued until Thursday morning.
The Taliban said six policemen and several foreign soldiers were killed in the clash.
Meanwhile, a vehicle belonging to National Directorate of Security (NDS) struck a roadside bomb at 7:30am near the city, but there were no casualties, an intelligence official said on condition of anonymity.
But a Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, claimed five intelligence officials were killed in the attack.
