Sister, brother found dead in Herat

HERAT CITY(PAN): A brother and sister were found mysteriously killed with AK-47 assault rifle in the Kohsan district of eastern Nangarhar province, police said on Friday.

The two were found dead at their home in the Kham Merak village, and police had arrested a man in connection with the rifle, police spokesman, Col. Noor Khan Nikzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the reason behind the double murder was yet to be determined, but a search was ongoing. The detainee was being interrogated, he said.

Ghulan Hazrat, a neighbour of the family, said he heard gunshots last night and when he came out of home, he was told a sister and brother had been killed in their neighborhood.

He said police had arrested a man on the suspicion of connection to the killings. He said he had no information if the detainee was involved.
