KABUL): In a bid to find market for local products, Afghan and Turkish traders on Sunday arranged a joint exhibition, showcasing wood and plastic products in Kabul.

A joint venture of Afghan and Turkish businessmen, the show is supported by the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

ACCI chief Mohammad Qurban Haqjo, who inaugurated the exhibition, told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan traders had put on display different kinds of furniture. The Turkish businessmen are showcasing furniture and 32 types of electronic accessories.

“Such exhibitions are essential to further strengthen our friendship and trade ties with Turkey. It is a positive step toward industrial development of Afghanistan,” Haqjo added.

He said the ACCI planned to hold a joint gathering in Kabul to enable Afghan and Turkish investors and industrialists to share their experiences.

Haqjo said construction projects worth more than a billion US dollars had been completed in Afghanistan over the past nine years.

Head of the Afghan-Turkish Trader and Industrialist Union, Mustafa Gordu, called the exhibition a good stride toward finding market for products. He said trade relations between Afghanistan and Turkey spanned over 90 years.

He said the union had granted membership to 45 Afghan, Turkish and Chinese firms. Gordu said he would take Afghan traders and industrialists to Turkey this year to introduce them to their Turkish counterparts.
