JALALABAD (PAN): Unidentified gunmen killed a teacher and set ablaze a school in the eastern province of Nangarhar, officials said on Sunday.
The office, classrooms, libratory and some other parts of the middle school were torched on Saturday night, the education department’s spokesman said.
Asif Shinwari told Pajhwok Afghan News they had sent a delegation to assess the losses resulting from the arson attack in the Salozo area of Chaparhar district.
Separately, one of the two teachers abducted in the Spin Jumaat area of the district days ago was released. The second teacher’s body was found on Saturday, he said.
Pachir Agam district chief, Mualim Mashooq, confirmed the incident, saying that 1,000 tribal elders had promised to protect schools across the district.
