Blast rocks Kandahar mosque (video)

KANDAHAR CITY, 22 May, 2011 (PAN): Two policemen were wounded during a bomb blast inside a mosque in southern Kandahar province on Sunday afternoon, an official said.

An explosives-rigged motorbike was detonated in the mosque near a police checkpoint in the Shikarpur Gate area in the second police district at about 2pm.

The motorbike was parked in the worship place, adjacent to the checkpoint, police officer Jan Mohammad Nabi told Pajhwok at the scene.

The mosque and the police post were partially damaged as a result of the explosion. Afghan and NATO-led forces cordoned off the area soon after the bombing. PAJHWOK/Siddiqullah
