KABUL) on Tuesday condemned the killing and wounding of several Afghan labourers in an insurgent attack in southern Kandahar province.
A vehicle carrying about 40 road workers struck a Taliban-planted roadside bomb in Panjwai district, killing more than 10 civilians and wounding up to 30.
“We join President Karzai in condemning the killing and wounding of these innocent construction workers. This attack again demonstrates the insurgents’ utter disregard for innocent life,” said Rear Admiral Vic Beck, ISAF director of public affairs.
In a statement, he said: “These frequent, indiscriminate and brutal attacks that kill innocent Afghans are signs of the insurgents’ desperate attempt to remain relevant. We will not cease in our efforts to help our Afghan counterparts stamp out the insurgency and bring those responsible to justice.”
