KABUL): The United States on Sunday condemned a suicide attack on the provincial leadership in Takhar, and Afghan as well as coalition forces.
Saturday’s huge explosion killed four Afghan police officials, including two senior commanders, and two German soldiers. Nine Afghan officials, including Governor Abdul Jabbar Taqwa, were wounded.
Police chief for the northern zone, Gen. Daud Daud, provincial police head, Brig. Gen. Shah Jehan Noori, and two more policemen were killed in the assault.
“We extend our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims of this terrorist violence,” said a statement from the US embassy in Kabul.
“The United States remains determined to work with its Afghan and international partners to further the cause of peace and security to which Gen. Daud and Noori were committed,” it added.
