ASADABAD (PAN): Afghan police and soldiers repulsed an insurgent attack on a district headquarters in eastern Kunar province, killing four of the assailants, an official said on Monday.
A group of militants stormed the Manogai district headquarters’ building late on Sunday night, sparking a fierce gun-battle with security forces, the police chief said.
Gen. Khalilullah Ziayee told Pajhwok Afghan News four attackers were killed when police and the army personnel retaliated. The security forces suffered no casualties.
The attack, 40 kilometres north of the provincial capital Asadabad, caused no damage to the building, the police chief said.
