MEHMOOD RAQI (PAN): A Chechen fighter was killed and two of his Afghan associates were wounded in a mortar shell explosion in central Kapisa province on Monday, police said.
The incident took place in the Tatarkhel area of Tagab district around noon, police chief Pacha Gul Bakhtiar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Wahidullah, a witness, said the injured included a regional Taliban commander, Toryalai.
District chief Abdul Hakim said the presence of militants, including Uzbeks, Chechens and Waziristan residents, was posing serious a threat to peace in Tarakhel.
There was no immediate word from the Taliban about the incident.
