KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): A facilitator and two planners of a suicide attack on the Kunduz governor and provincial police chief were detained by intelligence operatives, officials said on Wednesday.

Governor Eng. Mohammad Omar was killed while offering Friday prayers in a mosqueinfo-icon on Oct. 8, 2010 in Taloqan, the capital city of Takhar.

The Kunduz police chief, Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Syedkheli, was killed as a result of another suicide attack on March.11, 2011 in Kunduz City.

Up to 35 people, including four children, were killed and 40 others injured in a separate suicide bombing on March14 at an Afghan National Army (ANA) recruitment centre in the city.

Mullahinfo-icon Abdul Qadar and Abdul Alem had been on charge of plotting the attack on the governor, Mashal said. The detainees had confessed to their involvement during interrogation, saying they were recruited by a Talibaninfo-icon commander named Maulviinfo-icon Ziauddin Madani.

Another fighter -- Abdul Salam -- was detained for facilitating the suicide assault on Syedkheli and the recruitment centre in Kunduz City, the NDS spokesman added.
