KABUL): A facilitator and two planners of a suicide attack on the Kunduz governor and provincial police chief were detained by intelligence operatives, officials said on Wednesday.
The men were detained last one week in northern Takhar and Kunduz provinces, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) spokesman, Lotfullah Mashal, told a press conference in Kabul.
Governor Eng. Mohammad Omar was killed while offering Friday prayers in a mosque on Oct. 8, 2010 in Taloqan, the capital city of Takhar.
The Kunduz police chief, Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Syedkheli, was killed as a result of another suicide attack on March.11, 2011 in Kunduz City.
Up to 35 people, including four children, were killed and 40 others injured in a separate suicide bombing on March14 at an Afghan National Army (ANA) recruitment centre in the city.

Another fighter — Abdul Salam — was detained for facilitating the suicide assault on Syedkheli and the recruitment centre in Kunduz City, the NDS spokesman added.
