Mohammad Abdullah Abid, who represents four districts of the province, was seized while travelling in a car with his brother and a co-villager in Chamkani district,

District chief, Saadat Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News the council member's brother and co-villager were later released by the abductors, but Abid was still in captivity.

Abdur Rahman Chamkani, a resident of the district, said Abid was responsible for High Peace Council affairs in Janikhel, Zazai Aryub, Chamkani and Dandi Patan districts.

The men were kidnapped on their way to the district centre, said the resident, who had no idea who was behind the incident.
