JALALABAD (PAN): An anti-corruption court in eastern Nangarhar province sentenced on Monday a border police officer to four years in jail for misusing his authority and keeping illegal arms.
The border police officer, Asadullah, had also been fined, Judge Ziauddin Bawar told Pajhwok Afghan News. Asadullah is currently working as finance officer at the fourth brigade of border police.
Bawar said Asadullah had telephonic contacts with drug smugglers and militants and he also kept illegal arms.
The convict, who also lost an American pistol belonging to the border police, was fined 18,350 afghanis ($390). But Asadullah rejected the verdict, saying he would move a higher court.
