Australian soldier killed in IED strike
In line with its policy, ISAF neither revealed the nationality of the fallen soldier, nor the exact location of the incident.
Meanwhile, the Australian defence ministry announced that one of their soldiers was killed in a blast as he was attempting to defuse an explosives cache in southern Uruzgan province.
The soldier succumbed to his injuries at the military health facility in Tirinkot, the Australian defence ministry said in a statement.
Nearly 1,550 Australian soldiers are deployed to Uruzgan. Twenty-seven of them have been killed in Afghanistan since 2001.
