KABUL): Security forces arrested two Pakistani citizens with explosives meant for a bomb attack on a military section at the Kabul International Airport on Thursday, an official said.
The remote-controlled device, placed in a fuel tanker, was seized in the Sarak-i-Naw area on the Kabul-Bagram road early in the morning, the Deh Sabz district police chief said.
Col. Zmaray Nasiri told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees wanted to detonate the explosives in a military section of the airport.
The ISAF‘s northwestern city of Peshawar, was parked in the Hajizada Company in the Spachri locality.
Officials of the private firm informed police the explosives were being smuggled into the airport, Col. Nasiri said, adding the trucker and one of his accomplices were arrested before they reached their target.
The men are currently being investigated by Afghan intelligence officials and their vehicle has been impounded by police, he said.
