TIRINKOT (PAN): Tow people, including the son of a public representative, were gunned down by unidentified assailants in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Thursday.

The shooting took place late on Wednesday night south of Tirinkot, the provincial capital, the provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Col. Fazil Ahmad Sherzad said a bodyguard and a son of Marjan Kochi, a provincial council member, were killed in the attack.

Elsewhere in Uruzgan, two policemen were injured in a roadside bomb blast, the police chief said, without giving further details.

However, a doctor at the Uruzgan Civil Hospital said on condition of anonymity that four injured policemen were under treatment.

In another incident in the Sagi area of the province, a fighter planting a roadside bomb was killed by police, Col. Sherzad said.
