KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Two would-be suicide attackers were detained during an operation by the security personnel in southern Kandahar province, authorities said on Saturday.
On the basis of intelligence reports, security forces detained the suspected bombers along with their friends in a local city market, the governor’s house said in a statement.
One of the detainees has been identified as a Pakistani national who wanted to target the provincial headquarters, the statement added.
In a separate incident, a man was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Herat Bazaar area of Kandahar, said Sher Shah Yousafzai, the deputy police chief.
