QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A deputy governor escaped unhurt in a remote-controlled bomb explosion in the northwestern province of Badghis, officials said on Saturday.

The bomb struck Abdul Ghani Sabiri’s vehicle on his way to Ab-i-Kamari district to resolve a pistachio forest dispute, the provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Col. Mohammad Jabbar accused the Taliban insurgents of planting the explosive device in the Kafir Nimbar area. The official and his security guards survived, he said.

Two police vehicles were the target, but no one suffered casualties, witness Qurban, said. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the blast.
