ASADABAD (PAN): Five staffers of a vocational institute were released from militant’s captivity during an operation by security forces in eastern Kunar province, authorities said on Sunday.
Eight employees of the institute, including its director and teachers, had been kidnapped on their way to the office in the Sagi area on Saturday.
The operation was launched in Shegal district by the Afghan army and police to secure the release of the captives, the provincial counterterrorism chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Five of the men were freed and taken to the institute, Col. Abdul Matin said, without commenting on their condition.
Although the authorities claimed that the men were kidnapped by Taliban‘s, rebel spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said he was unaware of the incident.
