A dozen fighters dead in Badghis offensive
QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A dozen militants and two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed during a joint operation in northwestern Badghis province, officials said on Sunday
Two ANA soldiers were wounded during the two-day offensive in the Khairkhana area of Qadis district, a National Directorate of Security official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity.
Local Taliban commander Abdul Hakim, who took part in the fighting, said a local security force member was also killed. The local force was supporting the army personnel, he added.
"The fighting was very intense," said Haji Musa, a resident of the area. He had no idea of casualties, because people were barred from entering the scene.
