5 insurgents dead in Logar offensive

PUL-I-ALAM (PAN insurgents were killed during an operation in the central province of Logar, officials said on Monday.

Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) concluded the week-long operation codenamed Omaid (Hope) on Sunday in Azra district, the governor’s spokesman said.

Din Mohammad Darwaish told Pajhwok Afghan News five fighters were killed in Sabawand, Kalagi and Amarkhel areas of the district. The security personnel suffered no casualties.

ISAF troops searched houses without coordination with their Afghan partners, worrying residents, said a member of provincial council, Abdul Wali.

Three ISAF servicemembers were also killed during a gunbattle, another member of provincial council said on condition of anonymity, but the claimed was also rejected by NATO-led troops.
