ISAF solder killed in rebel attack
KABUL (PAN): A NATO-led soldier was killed in insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan, taking the number of foreign military fatalities to 240, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said on Monday.
The ISAF servicemember was killed late on Sunday following an militant attack in the Taliban's southern heartland, the alliance said in a brief statement.
In line with its policy, the multi-national force neither revealed the nationality of the fallen soldier nor the exact location of the incident. Mostly American and British soldiers are fighting insurgents in southern provinces.
With the latest death, the number of international troops killed in Afghanistan so far this year has reached 240. In 2010, the deadliest year for ISAF, a total of 711 soldiers were killed.
