QALAT (PAN): The Pajhwok Afghan News reporter, Bismillah Pakhtunmal, was released on Monday on bail after spending two days in detention in southern Zabul province.
Pakhtunmal was sent to a detention centre on the directive of the appellant court head, Abdul Hadi Hamkar, on Saturday. He was bailed out on Monday.
Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News through the telephone, the reporter said the prosecutor’s office had prepared a 15-page charge-sheet against him. Two of the pages were given to Pakhtunmal to answer the charges in line with the prosecutor’s wish.
During his investigation, the reporter was repeatedly asked to apologise for his report in which had he written that the judge had been removed from his post on corruption charges.
Pakhtunamal was granted bail after a number of media outlets condemned his arrest and called for his early release.
