BAMYAN CITY/MAIDAN SHAR (PAN): One child and a 14-year-old girl were killed, and six others injured, when a roadside bomb exploded in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Saturday.

The explosion, which took place late Friday in the Jalriz district of Maidan Wardak, hit a passenger vehicle en route from the central Bamyan province to the capital Kabul.

Tofan, the driver, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he and five others were injured. They were taken to the ISAF facility.

Amanullah, a resident of the Bamyan province, said that the 14-year-old girl, who had been seriously injured in the blast, died at the ISAF health center.

Shahidullah Shahid, spokesman for the provincial governor, confirmed the incident, saying the bomb had been planted by militants.
