350 ex-jihadi commanders join ANA in Ghor
The former commanders have registered themselves with the Disarmament Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programme and they were recruited into ANA after passing an examination, the recruitment department head at the Ministry of Defence, Gen. Mohammad Khan Saleh, said.
The test was conducted in compliance with a decree issued by President Hamid Karzai, he said. The ex-jihadis joined soldiers over the past two days and all of them were deputed in capital Kabul, the official said.
The recruitment would result into improved security across the Kabul province, one of the commanders, Ahmad Murghabi, hoped.
Another former commander, Abdullah Murtazawi, said they had been jobless for a long time. He said they ready to serve the nation after joining the Afghan forces.
