Nine injured in attacks in Kunar

ASADABAD (PAN, children and security men, were injured in separate incidents of violence in eastern Kunar province, an official said on Wednesday.

Suspected militant fired rockets at a joint base of Afghan and NATO-led troops in the Asmar district on Wednesday afternoon, the governor’s spokesman said.

Three Afghan National Army soldiers were injured in the assault, Wasifullah Wasifi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Zubair Siddiqui, who claims to speak for the Hizbi-i-Islami Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for the rocket attack.

In a similar incident, two women and as many children were injured in the Mahipar area of Asmar district, the gubernatorial spokesman said.

In Marawora district, two children and a woman sustained shrapnel injuries when unknown assailants lobbed a hand grenade into their house, Wasifi said.
