UK, UAE back Afghan-led peace process

KABUL important, hoping the trip would open a new chapter in relations between the two neighbouring countries.

Karzai said this during his meeting with the British foreign secretary, William Hague, and the UAE minister of foreign affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, at the Presidential Place, the President’s Spokesman Office said in  a statement.

The visiting dignitaries discussed with Karzai issues concerning the situation in Afghanistan, the security transition plan and the ongoing talks with the rebels.

Both the UK and the UAE ministers assured President Karzai of their countries unconditional support for the peace process.

Karzai thanked William Hague and Sheikh Abdullah for their countries assistances to Afghanistan over the past 10 years.

The president told the two officials that his recent visit to Pakistan was a success and hoped for positive outcome of the trip.
