10 insurgents killed in past 24 hours

KABUL): Ten armed insurgents have been killed and 16 others detained during separate security operations in five provinces over the past 24 hours, the interior ministry announced on Thursday.

The operations were carried out in Kabul, Laghman, Kandahar, Helmand and Khost provinces by Afghan police and the army, the ministry said in a statement.

Security forces seized three Kalashnikovs with 10 magazines, a pistol, three artillery shells and different kinds of landmines during the period, it said.
