KABUL) and the US on Saturday condemned insurgent attacks in central Logar and northern Kunduz provinces.

Initial reports from Arza district in Logar indicated that more than 10 civilians were killed and more than 40 others wounded, including women and children, when terrorists attacked a hospital on Saturday.

In Kunduz, a bicycle loaded with explosives detonated at a bazaar in Khanabad district on Friday, leaving 10 civilians dead and dozens others wounded.  The dead also included a police officer.  Five women were among the victims.

“The insurgents have a complete disregard for the innocent people of Afghanistan who are trying to live in peace,” said Rear Admiral Vic Beck, ISAF Director of Public Affairs.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed and wounded, and we will not falter in our efforts to work with our Afghan partners to find those responsible and bring them to justice,” said Rear Admiral Beck.

Meanwhile, the United States strongly condemned the two devastating attacks that claimed the lives of numerous people.

The terrorists demonstrated a disregard for human life when they targeted Afghans who were patients in a hospital, their visitors and relatives, and hospital personnel, the US embassy in Kabul said in a statement.

“Our sympathies and condolences go out to the families and friends of the victims of these senseless and violent attacks,” the statement said.

It said they honoured the hospital personnel for continuing to dedicate their lives to serving people.  The United States will continue to support Afghanistan as it works to provide and improve security for Afghan citizens, it said.
