KABUL (UNAMA) on Saturday denounced in the strongest terms a suicide attack on a public hospital in central Logar province.
More than 30 people were killed and dozens others injured when a car loaded with explosives was driven into the Azrah district’s central hospital.
In a statement, the UN mission stressed that attacks on hospitals were strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law. “All medical workers, clinics and hospitals must be respected and protected in all circumstances,” the statement said.
“This is a despicable attack against civilians who were seeking medical care, as well as visiting family members and health workers,” said the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Staffan de Mistura.
